Art Residencies
Art Residencies
Sun Hill Farm has a commitment to host short-term residencies that marry land based practices, such as farming and gardening, with artistic and aesthetic inquiries such as chamber music, painting, puppetry, writing or opera.
Sun Hill has hosted artist residencies with a variety of arts partners for nearly twenty years. Yellow Barn Music Festival has housed their artistic leadership at Sun Hill for their summer residencies since 2000. Sandglass Theater has accommodated visiting artists from around the globe here since 2001. Sun Hill has also hosted additional residencies from Cambodian Living Arts, Parent Magazine, Arts Emerson and John Burt Productions.
Sun Hill accepts residency proposals by invitation only.
In March 2017, Sun Hill artist in residence Aurélie Galois worked on a portrait of local farmers. Her work combined interviews, photographs, oil portraits, ink drawings. Her inquiry revolved around sense of place, connection to land, love of dirt and life choices... Following her time at Sun Hill Farm, Aurélie published a book titled "Landed", a compilation of her residential work.
